4 Signs Your Range Rover’s A/C Needs Servicing

4 Signs Your Range Rover’s A/C Needs Servicing

At some point, you’ll need to have your Range Rover’s air conditioning serviced or repaired. Since summertime is in full swing here in Dubai, you don’t want to get caught off guard.

Traveling in a Range Rover with a malfunctioning air conditioning unit is unbearable. Which is why you need to ensure your vehicle’s air conditioner won’t fail you just when you really need it.

Below, we offer four tell-tale signs that it’s time to get your Range Rover’s air conditioning serviced as soon as possible.

1.      You Notice There’s a Difference in Cooling

This may seem a little obvious, but the first and most important sign is a difference in cooling. Never ignore it. Perhaps you feel a very slight cool air movement, yet no matter how much you crank up your air conditioning, the airflow doesn’t increase.

On the other hand, maybe you feel the air, but it’s far from cold air. This could well signal that there’s a problem with some part of your Range Rover’s air conditioning system. It may be something as straight forward as dirt and debris blocking the condenser or evaporator. Or, there could be an issue with the compression that pumps refrigerant through the A/C’s system.

2.      Leaking Compressor Hose

This is a sign that’s relatively tough to pick up as it involves components under the hood. If you know what you’re looking for, check the hose running upward from the compressor. There should not be any discharge or dirt. If it’s not that, it could be refrigerant oil and that means that there’s a leak affecting the effectiveness of your Range Rover’s air conditioning system.

If you’re not especially familiar with your vehicle’s under-the-hood tubes, hoses, and other components, bring it in for an A/C service right away.

3.      There’s an Odd Smell

Once you get your A/C running, take a deep breath. Does it smell like sweaty feet or even a little musty? Unless you left your sweaty gym gear in the Range Rover overnight, that stench is a tell-tale sign that there are bacteria accumulating in the vents and even the A/C evaporator.

Part of your vehicle’s A/C system includes damp and dark environments, and that’s the perfect breeding ground for smelly conditions.

It may be tempting to try and cover up the smell it an air freshener but don’t. You don’t want to breathe in air that’s running through a tunnel of grime and bacteria. Rather bring your vehicle in and we’ll service your air conditioning right away.

4.      You Spot a Leak

If your Range Rover’s air conditioning compressor, evaporator, fittings, lines or condenser are in any way compromised, there’s a possibility that they’ll leak both compressor oil and refrigerant. Any leak of oil or refrigerant will seriously obstruct the entire system’s ability to function and effectively produce cool air.

Visibly, it’s hard to tell if the system has a leak, but you’ll be able to tell by the Range Rover’s inability to cool the air. When you bring the vehicle in for preventative maintenance, our technicians will check for signs of leaks and repair them before they become a major problem.

How Often Your Range Rover’s A/C Should Be Serviced

It’s common for A/C refrigerant to leak. If your Range Rover’s air conditioning isn’t as cold as you expect it to be, it’s time for a service. Lack of effective cold air may be an indication of other problems with your air conditioning, which is why you should it bring the vehicle into an experienced mechanic for inspection and servicing.
