6 Things to Expect During Regular Servicing

6 Things to Expect During Regular Servicing

The warmer weather has arrived, and it comes with comfortable temperatures. It’s also a time to book your Range Rover in for a regular service to make sure everything’s in working order for the hot months ahead.

You’ve likely enjoyed your 4×4’s performance all through the winter thanks to earlier maintenance, and now it’s time to keep your engine roaring with a little extra attention to standard points of care.

Here’s what your Land Rover repairs and maintenance include during a regular service.

1.   Tires

Your tires are one of the most important parts of your Land Rover. Not only do they offer peak performance every time you get behind the wheel, but they’re also designed to give you a safe ride.

For top-level performance, check your tires now and regularly. A year-round 4×4 tire gives a responsive and lighter drive and just works well for most conditions.

Look for a quality brand to start. Then check pressure yourself as conditions can change the pressure. Also have your tires inspected regularly for possible unusual changes and wear.

Tire failure can happen when you least expect it, and the rising temperatures along with heat and speed build-up can make for weak tires. As a result, you could experience damage or a blowout. Follow the 5-year tire limit, which exists to help prevent blowouts. However, your tires may need to be changed sooner depending on driving conditions and use.

Your tires are the only part of your Land Rover that makes contact with the road, which is why it’s important that they’re checked or replaced regularly. It’s also important to use a reputable service provider. Others are likely to cut corners, which can put you at risk.

2. Air Conditioning

As your 4×4’s air conditioning system is about to go into overdrive through the summer, it’s important to ensure it’s working at its best. The last thing you want is to suffer a ride without AC during the UAE summer.

During a regular service, we will check the AC filters and replace dirty filters. You’ll really notice the difference with clean filters. Best of all, it reduces the likelihood of airborne infections.

3. Cooling System

Your coolant system should be full in summer. A dry coolant tank can become a problem for your Range Rover’s engine and its lifespan. If you find your vehicle’s temperature soaring, the coolant needs a refill now. We usually advise keeping a bottle of coolant when heading off on long trips.

4. Fuel Economy

As a Land Rover owner, you want to keep your vehicle for a long time. So, be sure to keep a check on its
fuel returns. After all, you want fuel efficiency more than anything.

A fuel economy check is essential in hot summers because the weather gets harsh quickly on your car, and the mechanical parts tend to face double the heat.

Ensure good fuel returns by scheduling cyclic drills like changing the oil filters after a certain number of months or mileage. We’ll carry out a full air filter inspection during regular servicing, too.

A drop in your vehicle’s fuel economy may be a red flag that something’s wrong with your engine. Regular services will save you on costly engine problems in the long run.

5. The Electrics

During a regular service, we pay special attention to the condition of your battery, especially during the hot season. Extreme heat evaporates battery fluid. This damages the internal cells and leaves your Range Rover susceptible to a breakdown.

The high summer temperatures can also cause your battery charging system to malfunction. This can happen when the voltage regulator allows a high charging rate, eventually destroying the battery.

Modern cars have so many electronics that they are prone to overheating and failure. For your Land Rover and Range Rover you want to make sure to use only compatible batteries should be used.

We give the upstream components of your electrical system a thorough going over during the hotter months to ensure your battery is safe and ready to give you many more miles. And if it needs replacement we make sure to use the correct batteries for your vehicle.

6. Oil Change

Many drivers believe that oil should be changed every 5,000 clicks or so. Your Land Rover manual will tell you how often the oil should be changed, but it’s something we do during a service for you. How often you change your oil also depends on climatic conditions and the grade of oil in your vehicle.

It’s also worth learning to spot the difference between dirty and clean oil. Dirty oil is often a red flag that something’s wrong with your engine.

If you’re told it’s time to flush the engine, let us tell you this – flushing your engine could be detrimental to your older 4×4. That’s because it exposes worn-out seals. What’s more, it might not even be necessary.
